Volume 1, Issue 1 .................... April 2000 Form 5500 Update Expect to see a significantly different Form 5500 when you receive your tax return this year. The form has been substantially revised and new detailed schedules have been added which are applicable to the filer’s specific type of plan. For the first time you will file your Form 5500 with the U.S. Department of Labor’s Pension and Welfare Benefit Administration rather than the Internal Revenue Service. For plan years that begin after January 1, 1999, Form 5500, Form 5500-C and Form 5500-R have been replaced with one Form 5500 patterned along the lines of individual and corporate tax returns. These changes have software vendors estimating the release of final
versions of their software sometime in April 2000 instead of the normal
February release.
